Hafez Bazrafshan

(outside of academia)

I was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1990. When I was about four years old, my family moved to the small, but beautiful city of Gorgan, located south of the Caspian Sea. I have a younger brother, Alisina, who is now a third-year Ph.D. student in chemistry at Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia. My mother, Samin, is a pediatrician and a a professor in the Department of Medicine at Golestan University of Medical Science in Gorgan.

Hobbies

My heart beats to the rhythm of the Clave. I also enjoy playing soccer but I haven't been able to play much ever since I moved to the United States. I was part of the UTSA table tennis club for a brief period.
